The board for the Flaming Gorge Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will continue to remain the same for 2005. Paul Cain (emmanuel@onewest.net), Records Director: Marilyn McDonald (marmcdon@wyoming.com), Financial Director: (leesplett@earthlink.net) and Congregational Service Team Director: Billie DeLong (rjdelong@allwest.net). Please contact anyone of these board members through your Congregation Coordinators if you have any questions concerning Care Abounds in Communities™ funding. This will be the last year that these members will be able to serve on the Chapter Board, so please prayerfully consider taking one of this position in the Fall.
The Chapter Board meets quarterly. Our next meeting will be held on April 15th at 7 P.M. at Little America, WY. If you have any requests for Care Abounds in Communities™ money, please have your Congregational Coordinators contact a board member before that date with your request. We are very pleased to announce that we were able to use all of our allocated money for Care Abounds in Communities in 2004. If you see a need in your community, please consider a Fund Raiser to raise funds for Care Abounds in Communities. The money is available and we want to spend it.

Social, recognition and awareness-building events are important for our membership organization. A logical place for this to occur is often at the congregation level. But how can you as congregational coordinators fund these events? You have two options: 1. Raise/collect funds in conjunction with a Care in Congregations® activity. Congregational service teams can host fund-raisers, which can be as simple as a collection or appeal. The funds raised, along with supplemental funds from the Care in Congregations program, can be used to pay for the expenses associated with social, recognition and awareness-building events that occur throughout the year. 2. Ask your chapter for operating funds. As a congregational coordinator, you can request operating funds from your chapter leadership board to help fund these types of events. A portion of the operating funds provided to chapters includes an allocation for social, recognition and awareness-building events. Because your leadership board may receive many requests for operating funds, be sure to highlight the reasons and potential benefits of the event as well as how the funds will be used. Our chapter leadership board provides operating funds to you for social, recognition or awareness-building events, the chapter leadership board will report it as an expense. To prevent double counting of the dollars as expenses, please do not report as expenses any operating funds provided to you from the chapter leadership board. The board is accountable for all operating funds and is responsible for reporting these expenses.
