Thrivent Chapter Leadership Board Minutes March 2006

The meeting was opened with a prayer by President, Mark Moore at 6:30 pm.

New members were submitted and approved from February 9 – March 8, 2006.

A motion to approve the February minutes was made by Linda Thompson and seconded by Arlene Skaggs and approved unanimously.

The review of the financial report was tabled until April meeting. The bank statements for December, January and February were reviewed by the Board. We had a $500 expense for the Board Dinner in February.

Reports:
Financial – Audit was completed and submitted on Monday February 27th.

Congregational Service Team Director reported the Flatirons Thrivent Group has offered assistance (both monetary and office assistance) for the upcoming Congregational Coordinator Training on April 29th.

Records Director will update the volunteer hours for the Rocky Mountain Region Leadership Summit and the February Chapter meeting. The following articles will appearing in the 1st quarter newsletter: Congregational Coordinator Training, April 29th, an update on the Thrivent Build project and inviting congregational coordinators to our monthly chapter Board meetings, will also to include want ads for additional volunteers. Tentative completion scheduled by the end of March.

Old Business:
Lutheran High School Association Western Round Up Dinner and Silent Auction on March 5, 2006. No funds were approved.

St. Vrain Family Center - $100 grant for materials and New Dad Workshop and Boot Camp. Approved matching funds of $100.00. (program or operating funds?)

Love and Logic University – an overview of this project was presented by Barb Mertens. $1,500 was approved as a hands on service project with prefunding from care abounds in community funds

New Business:
A request for the Lutheran Family Services’ A Time of Caring: Mile High Hope Gala was approved for matching $1 for every $2 raised up to $1,600 from care abounds in communities funds.

A request from the Interfaith Quilters to match up to $1,600 from the proceeds of their March Quilt Sale and Show was approved. Also an additional $400 of operating funds was approved by the chapter for the purchase of supplies for ongoing work.

A request to assist the Kirsten and All Wells family with medical expenses related to daughter’s heart surgery was approved with a $1 for every $2 raised up to $1,000.

A request to help fund the 9Health Fair volunteer room was approved for $400 as a hand on service activity with prefunding from program funds.

A request to match proceeds from Lenten Fellowship suppers to supplement Course expenses for Early Education class was approved for $1 to $1 match up to $150.

A request for assistance was considered for the David and Laura Hodgson Family who lost their home in a recent fire. A $1,000 of operating funds was approved to be sent to the family to help cover child care expenses until the end of the school year. Valorie Sundby and Bruce Hoelter came and addressed the Board about this request. Other opportunities may present themselves to assist this family.

Mark Moore said his company will send Thrivent $500 for 25 hours of volunteer work done during the year. These proceeds will be considered for the Thrivent Build project.

The next Board meeting will be held on Thursday, April 6th at 6:30 pm due to the regularly scheduled meeting falls on Maundy Thursday of Holly Week.
