Thrivent Leadership Monthly Minutes 4/06/2006

Meeting was called to order by President Mark Moore.

 

Roll Call:

President: Mark Moore

Vice President - Becky Nichols

Congregational Coordinator Director – Arlene Skaggs

Board Advisor – Ed Allen

New members for March   - April 6, 2006 were presented.  A motion to approve was made by Connie Allen and seconded by Linda Thompson. The motion passed.

 

The minutes for March 9, 2006 meetings were reviewed. A motion to approve was made by Becky Nichols and seconded by Harriet Couillard. Motion was passed.

 

The financial report was presented by Harriet Couillard. A motion to accept was made by Connie Allen and seconded by Arlene Skaggs.

 

Volunteer hours since our last meeting include 25 for the participants at the meeting. Other Volunteer hours include; Harriet Couillard – 25 hours, Nancy Timm – 15 hours, Linda Thompson – 5 hours and Mark Moore – 1 hour.

Hours for the Thrivent Build and coordinator Jim Heins include 13 hours for January and 26 hours for February.

 

Old business:

A review of all the pending funding requests approved at the March meeting was completed.

 

Arlene gave the itinerary for the upcoming Congregational Coordinator Training Workshop on April 29th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. She assigned certain tasks and presentations since Roberta Wentworth would not be able to attend. A motion to give $50 to all member congregations and a $200 incentive for congregation with all 3 coordinators was moved by Arlene Skaggs, seconded by Becky Nichols and passed.

 

New Business:

Mark Moore reviewed with the Board criteria for the Hallmarks of Chapter Boards. This also turned into a discussion regarding the Join Hands Day potential projects for the Board to consider. Projects under consideration include 1st Lutheran Youth activities preceding the Regional Youth Gathering activities in Breckenridge in July including involvement with international participants and multi –generational activities and Personal care kits for the firefighters working in our state this summer on forest fires.

 

A motion was made by Connie Allen to purchase the leftover Entertainment Books from Ambassadors for Christ and use them as door prizes for the upcoming Congregational Coordinator training. The motion was seconded by Becky Nichols and passed.

 

Funding Requests:

A funding request for the Messiah Lutheran Youth Group for a building project in Tijuana, Mexico called Bricks for Lutheran Border Concerns 2006 was presented. A motion for funding was made by Connie Allen, seconded by Arlene Skaggs and approved on a $1 for $1 basis up to $1,000.00.

 

A request from the LWML of Risen Savior Lutheran Church was presented. A motion to match the $180.00 of Lenten supper proceeds out of operating funds was made by Arlene Skaggs, seconded by Connie Allen and approved.

 

July 15th was the date set for the Twin Peaks Chapter Pig Roast.

 

The next meeting will be held on May 11th.

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
