Thrivent Leadership Board Monthly Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Ed Mohrman at 6:30 pm. Duane Sharpe held us in prayer.

Roll Call:

Ed Mohrman, President

Duane Sharp, Vice President

Bob Mohling, Financial Director

Nancy Timm, Records Director

Tom Cree, Congregational Service Team Director

Robert Cotton, Thrivent Builds Coordinator

The financial reports were reviewed. Program funds remaining for 2008 are $4,349. Operating funds balance is $2,789.40. Recognition dollars are falling short, consider new ideas. Consider incorporating with annual picnic.

A new congregation has been added to the chapter, Family of Christ in Frederick, CO. The congregations within the chapter are back up to 13 Lutheran churches.

The minutes for the April meeting were reviewed and approved. Review of new members joining the chapter since April 25, 2008 was also reviewed and approved.

Volunteer hours since April 24th include:  Ed Mohrman - 10, Duane Sharp – 12, Bob Mohling – 12, Nancy Timm – 8, Tom Cree – 2 and Robert Cotton - 4.

Old Business

Bob Mohling will work with the Rejoice Lutheran service coordinator and team to complete the Join Hands paperwork for the previously approved project for $500.

New Business

Another Join Hands Day project is being sought from chapter congregations.

Rainbow Trail camp submitted “a hands on” request for their Memorial Day weekend projects. This request was reviewed. A multi-chapter is pending for approval. Bob M moved an approval for $800 to help with material, seconded by Duane Sharp and passed unanimously.

A fund raising request for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) sponsored by Bethlehem Lutheran members was considered. A motion was made by Bob Mohling for a match of $1 for $2 raised up to $800, seconded by Tom Cree and passed unanimously.

The Annual Chapter pig roast is scheduled for July 27th from 1-5 pm. The following assignments for the pig roast were made:

The Chapter Leadership Board members will help with set up and clean up of the pavilion.

Bob M – Steinbaugh Pavilion was reserved for Sunday, July 27th and a dozen kites kits for children activities

Nancy - food and publicity

Tom– Entertainment

Youth assistance from chapter congregations

Raffle giveaways – Ed Mohrman

Thrivent Build Update

Funding from congregations is under review. Bob visited with First Lutheran to establish work groups and the new congregation in Frederick. 4 work days have been set for Bethlehem Lutheran in June and August has been set.

The next meeting is scheduled for June 26th. With no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
