Thrivent Leadership Board Monthly Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Ed Mohrman at 6:30 pm. Bob Mohling held us in prayer.

Thrivent Build Update

Bob has received a contribution of $934 from Bethlehem Lutheran, making our balance $11,746 YTD for the 2008 Thrivent Build project.  Presentations continue. A letter is in process with the groundbreaking pictures to find volunteer teams for August and September dates.

 

The 2009 Thrivent Build project and letter of intent for next year project due July 25, 2008 was discussed. The Board has decided to proceed with another Thrivent Build project home for 2009.

 

The minutes from May meeting were reviewed. A motion to approve was made by Bob Mohling, seconded by Duane Sharp and approved. A motion to accept new members since the May 22nd meeting was made by Duane Sharp, seconded Robert Cotton and passed.

 

Information from a regional conference call with Presidents and Financial Directors including Join Hands Projects guidelines and Care in Communities Funding guidelines was discussed by the Board.

 

The financial reports were reviewed. Program funds remaining for 2008 are $2,749. Operating funds balance is $2,774.24. A motion by Bob Mohling and seconded by Robert Cotton was made to recognize the 2008 service team project leaders and congregational coordinators with the appropriate criteria with a $25 gift card and recognition at the annual pig roast was passed .

 

Volunteer hours since May 22nd include: Ed Mohrman - 5, Duane Sharp – 4, Bob Mohling – 12, Nancy Timm – 7, Tom Cree – to be provided, Chris Busch- to be provided and Robert Cotton - 13.

 

 

Old Business

 

The Annual Chapter pig roast is scheduled for July 27th from 1-5 pm. The following assignments for the pig roast were made:

The Chapter Leadership Board members will help with set up and clean up of the pavilion.

Postcards for the event were approved by Thrivent on June 25th for mailing. A second postcard reminder will be sent in July. The food has been ordered with Arapahoe Pig Roasters. The order can be revised up to a week before the event. Several activities have been reserved and we are still in search of a band.

 

Baseball tickets (100) for the Rockies have been purchased for the September 14th game at 1:05 pm against the LA Dodgers. Ticket sales and distribution will be discussed at the July meeting.

 

New Business

A Join Hands Project with the Bethlehem Lutheran Youth Group to build a shed for a Windsor family was discussed. A motion for $500 of support contingent the project can be completed and reported by July 31, 2008 was made by Bob Mohling, seconded by Duane Sharpe and passed unanimously.

 

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Naomi Circle Silent Auction of a Quilt for the benefit Taylen Zabel and her travel expenses for cancer treatment was reviewed. A motion was made by Duane Sharp to fund the project on a 1 to 1 basis up to $500, seconded by Bob Mohling and passed unanimously.

 

Risen Savior Vacation Bible School Gospel Outreach (GO) Ball (soccer) project was reviewed. A motion to fund the project on a 1 to 1 basis up to $800 contingent on how the funds are raised was made by Robert Cotton, seconded by Duane Sharpe, and passed unanimously.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for July 24th. With no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
