LEAD CONGREGATIONAL COORDINATORS CAN NOW BE IDENTIFIED
Identifying a "lead congregational coordinator" makes it possible for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, regional Community Services (LCS) Teams and chapter leaders to send communications to the lead coordinator only, who then can share it with the other two coordinators as appropriate. Many congregational teams are already informally operating this way. Here are some key points to keep in mind: * The lead congregational coordinator does NOT have more "Authority" than the other two coordinators. The sole purpose of this change is to help simplify the communication process.
* The current congregational coordinator team has the option to identify one of the three as a lead congregational coordinator, or to remain as is. However, after one of the three leaves the position the congregational coordinator team is required to identify a lead congregational coordinator when adding a third person to the team.
* The lead congregational coordinator position is required to have a valid e-mail address.
* Currently, the following communications from Thrivent Financial will be sent to the lead congregational coordinator only: 1) the e-mail that is generated after a Care in Congregations® activity is reported on line. 2) The e-mail that is generated 60 days after a proposed fund-raising activity date and 90 days after a proposed hands-on service activity date if the activity has not been reported on line.
* Thrivent Financial will continue to send the following to all congregational coordinators: 1) the e-mail notifications about news articles posted on Congregational Coordinator News. 2) The January mailing that includes the letter indicating the amount of Care in Congregations funds available for the year and the Care in Congregations program materials.
* Remember, an LCS Team member, chapter leader or fraternal customer service advocate are the only ones who can enter a congregational coordinator or lead congregational coordinator on line.
IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE CHAPTER AND CONGREGATIONS
* December 20--the last day any requests for 2006 Chapater Care program funds can be requested by congregational coordinators. (There are no funds left in the Chapter Care Abounds in Communities® program.) The last day that previously approved funding amounts for either Care program can be changed. Important - Chapter Care programs are annual programs and program funds do not carry over from one year to the next. * December 21 to January 7--Activity requests cannot be entered. A blackout period on the system will not allow anyone to request funds for activities during this time.
* January 8--Chapter leaders and congregational coordinators may begin to enter 2007 activity/funding requests online.
* January--Congregational coordinators who are on record with Thrivent Financial will receive Care in Congregations program materials and a letter including the amount of 2007 funds available to use for the program. IMPORTANT: All three required congregational coordinators must be on record with Thrivent Financial before this information is sent. Chapter leaders will receive Care Abounds in Communities program materials and a letter giving the amount of 2007 funds available for the Chapter.
LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR
The new Chapter Board will soon be planning several activities and events for 2007. Among those to look for are the Join Hands Day beach clean up at Francis Beach, Half Moon Bay. This is not only an opportunity to be a service to our community, but is also a chance to have a lot of fun. Watch for the announcements. The Chapter-wide gatherings know as the Ice Cream Socials will also be scheduled twice during the coming year. This is a chance to hear the latest news from Thrivent Financial and is also a chance to meet other active members of the Chapter. This year we were able also to meet new Thrivent Financial Representatives as well. Do plan to attend these fun - and delicious - social events.
