|INTRODUCTION TO "GRIEF SHARE" FOR POTENTIAL LEADERS|GriefShare is a national faith-based organization that helps churches form support groups for those who have lost a loved one to death.
Thrivent is sponsoring a training session for potential leaders on Saturday, August 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Chapel of the Cross. If you are interested in learning more about GriefShare with the possibility of becoming a leader you are invited to attend.
The full 13 session training program covers many different situations and aspects of grief. GriefShare is much more than your standard support group (of any kind) where people simply tell their stories and support each other. The purpose of this program is to allow God and His Word to heal, teach, and guide people out of grief to healing and new joy.
The weekly program is built around three basic components:
1) video seminar of people telling their stories of grief and help from experts,
2) discussions on the video and support,
3) daily personal study and reflection.
Each participant receives an extensive workbook. Included in it are daily Bible readings and exercises that expand on the previous session’s topic, and are reviewed in the sessions.
For more information about GriefShare, you can go to their website, www.griefshare.org, or contact David Funke at 314 741-3737. If you are interested in attending the training on August 14, you can contact your Pastor who has already received an invitation to attend, or call David Funke.
Tuesday, September 14, Grace Chapel Lutheran School will host "Smart Discipline," the most well-attended parenting program in America. Based on Dr. Koenig's book, Smart Discipline has been featured on PBS, NPR, and in People’s Magazine and Parents’ Magazine. This 2-hour seminar will teach techniques to banish the top 7 misbehaviors that parents face:
1. Disrespectful language
2. Fighting and bickering
3. Morning and bedtime hassles
4. Homework hassles
7. Messy rooms
You will also learn how to instill positive beliefs in your children.
The cost for the seminar is $15 per person, or $25 per couple.
Free baby-sitting will be available.
The seminar begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the church sanctuary.
Grace Chapel Lutheran Church is located at 10015 Lance Drive, Bellefontaine Neighbors, MO, 63137, at the corner of Chambers Road and Highway 367. For more information or to register, please call Sandy Kratzer at 314-867-6564.
