Chapter Annual Meeting in November
The annual chapter meeting was fun and tasty for all. Pastor Stacie Loizeaux says Nazareth was honored to host the Yadkin River Thrivent Chapter meeting on November 5. Nazareth has enjoyed 233 years of ministry in Rural Hall. Nazareth is blessed to have stained glass windows designed and built by one of their members and a one of a kind organ made from trees on the property. They would love for you to come visit their historic church and cemetery. If you would like more information on their history, please visit their website www.nazarethelca.org. Members of Nazareth prepared and served a delicious meal for all and set up for the bingo social that followed. If you haven't experienced jokes by our own Larry Grush you have missed a treat. There was a joke before, during and after every bingo game so it was a fun and eventful evening. Elizabeth Hull graciously delivered the 65 lbs. of canned food brought by members attending to Second Harvest Food Bank to round out the events of the evening.
Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity
The Yadkin River Chapter has been awarded a Thrivent Builds allocation for 2012. This is an honor for the Thrivent members, area Lutherans and volunteers to work with Forsyth Habitat to build another house for a deserving family. Thru the Thrivent Builds program Thrivent provides 55% of the funding, Forsyth Habitat provides 35%, and the Chapter provides 10%. At least 50% of the volunteers on the build site need to be Lutheran and at least 25% of the volunteers on the build sites need to be Thrivent Financial members. An email newsletter with information and periodic update about the build dates, progress and opportunities to volunteer will be provided with blind address (bcc) for those interested . If you would like to be included on the emailing **send a message to Lutherv@triad.rr.com.
The chapter has completed all the requirements to be designated a Chapter of Excellence for 2011. This is based on the educational activities, workshops, social activities, volunteer hours, funds raised and use of the Care Abounds in Community program funds. Thank you to all the members and volunteers that have made a difference in our community.

Funding provided through Care Abounds in Communities
Through the Care Abounds in Communities program, Thrivent Financial provides funding to members like you who form community service teams to conduct fundraising activities and/or hands-on service activities to help individuals, families and qualified not-for-profit organizations. The Thrivent Choice program offers two ways members can recommend where to direct a portion of Thrivent Financial's charitable outreach funds. There are 2011 Choice Dollars for eligible chapter members that have not been directed, so check to see if your Choice Dollars have been directed. 1. Voting Events: All members (age 16 and older) can vote to help direct a portion of Thrivent Financial's charitable funds among a short list of national charities one to two times per year.
2. Choice Dollars: Eligible benefit members can help direct funds all year long to thousands of Lutheran nonprofit organizations like schools, camps, colleges – or even to their Lutheran congregations. Benefit members age 16 or older are eligible to participate in Choice Dollars if they: • Hold a Thrivent Financial volunteer leadership position; or • Have $800 or more in annual premiums of qualifying insurance products; or • Have $20,000 or more in contract value of qualifying products. Member eligibility under current eligibility requirements is determined monthly (check now to see if you have Dollars allocated and not directed), and these eligibility requirements are re-evaluated on an annual basis.
Participation is simple and easy, without any complicated forms to complete. You'll be able to vote or direct Choice Dollars in a way that's convenient for you. Visit www.thrivent.com/thriventchoice or call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and say “Thrivent Choice” for more information.
