Six Thivent members from the Laurens-Spartanburg County Chapter joined many of our Thrivent members these past months to the Gulf and other regions to help rebuild and/or repair homes that were damaged from Hurricane Katrina. These trips were organized through Lutheran Diaster Response Group. Volunteers from Holy Communion (Spartanburg) were Alan Ballou, Jeff Valentine and Kevin Zeman. Volunteers from St. John's Spartanburg - Ricky Sprang, Bob Pettis, and Doug Mckenzie went to the Dominican Republic to build Habitat houses. These men are to be commended for taking time from their pleasent surroundings to go and help thier fellow citizens who are living in far worse conditions and/or situations. Hopefully, we will be able to get reports from these volunteers about what they did. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those living along the Gulf and other places and Thrivent members can be proud of its volunteers, nationally, and our own Chapter representatives as well, for their committments to these worthy causes.
