Laurens-Spartanburg County Chapter, Election Results Year End 2008

2009 Officers Elected

On Tuesday, November 11, 2008, the Laurens-Spartanburg Chapter elected officers for the 2009 year, beginning in January. Your leaders are: President - Earle Dunham, Joy Lutheran Church; Vice President - Faith Reitmeier, Joy Lutheran Church; Records Director - Mary Ann Crout, Joy Lutheran Church; Financial Director - Carole Oles, Joy Lutheran Church; Congregational Service Team Director - Joanne Smith, Joy Lutheran Church; Communications Director - Byron Honbarger, Joy Lutheran Church; Assistant Financial Director - Wanda Meadows, Joy Lutheran Church; Community Service Team Director - Troy Slice, Joy Lutheran Church; Youth Director - Teresa Foster, Joy Lutheran Church; and Events Director - Claude Earnhardt, St. John's Lutheran Church.

Thrivent Builds Dedication Service

The Laurens-Spartanburg Chapter's Thrivent Builds House was dedicated on October 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM. The new homeowner is Jean Burgess & Family. Attending this celebration/dedication was Jean and her family, a few Habitat personel including Tom Webster, President of Habitat for Humanity in Spartanburg, The Reverend Lane Bembenek, Billie and Gretchen Briedert, Earle Dunham, Troy Slice, James Culp and wife, Melanie Hendrix, John Dennis, Rick Bincher and wife, and Ralph Wessinger.

In addition to the keys to her new home, Ms. Burgess was also presented a Bible.

Thrivent Builds Donations

We are still accepting donations towards the building of the Habitat for Humanity/Thrivent Builds House that was completed and dedicated recently. Please contact Troy Slice or Earle Dunham for information on how you can help.

Thrivent Builds Thanks You for your Participation

The Laurens Spartanburg Chapter would like to thank everyone who helped build our Thrivent Builds House. A lot of work went on both on the property and in the background. A special thanks goes out to Troy Slice for his dedication and hard work in getting people out to work on the house, securing donations for use in the house, and being there to make it all happen. We would also like to thank the Spartanburg Habitat for Humanity for giving us this opportunity to make a difference in someones life.
