| Pines Chapter, Chapter Positions for 2006 |
I would like to welcome all new members to the Pines Chapter. Each month, members are added to or deleted from the Chapter due to moving, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans services (annuities, investments, etc.) thus changing our total membership. At this time we have approximately 800 members in the Pines Chapter. For the new members, we cover Mongomery, Moore, Richmond and Scotland Counties. We have the following Lutheran Churches within the Pines Chapter boundaries:
Living Word - Laurinburg
Our Saviour - Southern Pines
St. James - Southern Pines
St. Paul - Hamlet
St. Paul - Pinehurst

| Chapter Leadership Positions |
Elections for 2006 for the Pines Chapter Leadership Board will be coming shortly. One of the rules of Thrivent Financial is that a Board member may not serve more than four consecutive years. At this time, we have three Board members who will be serving their fourth year in 2006 and will not be able to run again for at least two years after they are off of the Board. We would like to have several new Board members begin in 2006 so that we don't lose experience in 2007. The activities of the Board determines what projects the Chapter will have in a particular year and to be aware of what each Congregation's activities are for the year. The Chapter Board currently meets every other month and has a year end Chapter dinner/meeting at a central location. The Pines Chapter is given approximately $10,000 each year for community activities.
Our Chapter has been very lucky in that we have many dedicated people who have given their time and talents to helping their communities through Chapter activities. With the need for some of them to come off of the Board at the end of next year, we are in need of new people to serve the Chapter. Please give some consideration to helping our communities, our neighbors and our selves by participating as a member of the Chapter Board. There are several open positions that we have not been able to fill such as Youth Coordinator and Communications Coordinator plus others. If you can give some of your time and talent to serving on the Chapter Leadership Board or want additional information, please contact me at:
