Dear Pines Chapter Member,

   We in the Pines Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutheran have a new opportunity available to us.  In partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the Sandhills, the Pines Chapter will be building a new home for a deserving family in Aberdeen.  

   The house will be approximately 1,300 square feet with three bedrooms and two baths.  The total cost of the home is $84,000.  Thrivent Financial for Lutheran will contribute $64,600.  Habitat of the Sandhills will contribute $21,000.  The Thrivent Pines Chapter must raise 10 percent of the total - $8,400 - before May.  

   Now, the way I look at it - for $8,400 we together can build a home and move a deserving family from being a renter to being a homeowner.  The homeowner will pay for the home with an interest-free mortgage.  And, as a part of every home built by Habitat in the United States, 10% of the cost of the home is "tithed" to Habitat International for building homes abroad.  In fact, Habitat has built more homes outside the US than inside.  In fact, that 10% "tithe" will build almost two homes internationally.  What a deal!

   There are five Lutheran congregations in the Pines Chapter.  Again, our job is to raise $8,400.  Your gift of $50, $75 or even $100 would greatly help us meet that goal and build this house - and the ones abroad too.  If you can give more, we would appreciate it, if less, we are very grateful for your gift.  Please send your tax deductible donations made out to "Thrivent Builds - Pines Chapter" to:
