In 2011, the Pines Chapter was allocated $8,065 by Thrivent Financial for use in community activities. The following non-profit organizations benefited from these activities (includes amount raised plus the Chapter's supplemental dollars):
Buck-A-Chick (ELCA World Hunger Appeal) - the Youth of Our Saviour Lutheran Church collected donations for a total donation of $1,920.
Chapter Tornado Appeal - To help with the tornado disaster in N. C., the Chapter collected donations for the N.C. Interfaith Disaster Response (which included Lutheran Disaster Response) for a total donation of $4,352.
MANNA! In Motion - the Chapter provided volunteers and supported this race to collect funds to help with a mobile soup kitchen which provides food at various locations for the needy. We were able to help with a total donation $13,809.
Flag Day Fanfare - the Chapter held a social event for Flag Day with patriotic songs, hot dogs with all the trimmings dinner and a fund raiser for Military Missions in Action. We were able to give a total donation of $700.
Horn of Africa Drought Relief - Our Saviour Lutheran Church conducted a fund raiser for the ELCA Disaster Response to help provide drought relief in Africa with a total donation of $1,920.
Floods in Central America - Our Saviour Lutheran Church conducted a fund raiser for ELCA Disaster Response for the floods in Central America. The Chapter was able to give a total donation of $857.
Our Saviour Bazaar Bake Sale - the Chapter held a bake sale as part of the OSLC Bazaar. We supported Family Promise and we were able to give a total donation of $1,075.81.
Empty Stocking Program - the Chapter participated in providing gifts and food to needy individuals in our area at Christmas for a total donation of $615.
Again, we had a very successful year in supporting various community and world-wide organizations. A very special THANK YOU goes out to all who contributed their time, skills and resources to support the activities of our Chapter.
