We are excited about being in our third year of making it through the Care Abounds in Communities
program. Our purpose is to improve the quality of life of our members, their families, and our .
communities by providing unparalleled solutions that focus on wellness and caring for others. We invite you to be a part of this exciting program by identifying a project and forming a Community Service Team. All Service Teams who are requesting supplemental funds be mindful of the guidelines:
1. Get your application from the Chapter Community Service Team Director, Mrs. Catherine Boozer (803-364-2870). Complete and return to C. Boozer at 360 Holland Boozer Rd, Prosperity, SC 29127. Requests for funds must be submitted PRIOR to the activity. At least six (6) different Thrivent Financial households are needed to make up a Community Service Team in order to submit a request.
2. The Chapter Leadership Board will review the request and make funding decisions at next meeting. Catherine Boozer or Jackie Perry will contact you via phone with the results. If approved one of these ladies will send you: 1) "Report for Funding Activities" form and 2) "Receipt Funds Raised and Expense" form.
3. When the activity is complete, fill out the form #1 and mail to Barbara Bishop, Records Director at 2457 Beaver Dam Creek Rd, Newberry. Send form #2 & envelope with expense receipts for the activity along with the funds raised to Shelby Felker, Financial Director, 2153 Big Pine Rd, Pomaria, SC 29126.
4. After the activity request is processed by Thrivent Financial, a check from the Chapter Financial Director will be sent to the Service Team Recipient. The check will include the amount of money raised by the Service Team plus supplemental funds approved by the Chapter Leadership Board.
5. Proceeds from a raffle cannot be reported as “net funds raised”.
6. The amount of supplemental funds ranges from $100 to $1600 per activity (personal need or medical is 1 x 3 up to $1500 per person/per calendar year). It is possible to use multiple teams of six (6) to leverage beyond the $1600 activity limit.
7. Service teams in organizing an activity are to do the following:
a) Try to raise at least double the dollar amount set aside by Chapter Supplemental funds.
b) Keep a record of all volunteer people and their hours donated in making the activity happen. This is important for your Summary Report of the activity.
8. Chapter funds are “needs outside the congregation” since there are separate funds available for the church through the Care In Congregations program.
The Board looks forward to working with you in helping and caring for others in the Spirit of God's Love For All People.
