Lexington-Saluda County Chapter, FIRST NEWSLETTER OF 2012
FROM OUR CHAPTER PRESIDENT

Make your plan early as you seek funding for your ministry activity through our chapter. Our chapter’s funding has been reduced for the year. We want you to know that your chapter officers spend every penny frugally, thus accomplishing the most ministry possible through our chapter’s allocation.
When you invite someone to be a guest at our chapter’s Membership Meetings, please let us know they are guests. The idea for having guests is to introduce them to our Thrivent Financial for Lutherans programs and what can be done for them, and in their church and community.  Please invite new members to become a part of our Thrivent Financial for Lutherans organization!
A goal of the year for your chapter officers is to visit your congregation.  We would welcome an invitation to talk with your congregational advocates, council members, and/or the congregation membership in promoting Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, including information about the Choice Dollar Program.  Is your congregation receiving Choice Dollar funds for which you may be eligible? We can provide this information!  Our goal is to help you!  We cannot be of assistance if you do not ask!
Your chapter officers will be attending a Regional Summit in March to continue being better equipped in the performance of service to you in 2012.  Working together, we can encourage, equip, and enable our members, and the congregations of our chapter, to reach out in service to our communities, wisely using our Thrivent resources.     Please help us to help you!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY

As a Thrivent Financial for Lutherans member, you have a wonderful opportunity to “make a difference” by getting involved in helping others through our Thrivent Chapter’s Care Abounds in Communities Program. It does not take a lot of time or a long-term commitment! It’s not only rewarding, it’s easy to do!  You have access to resources and programs created to help you, your congregation and your community.  Through our chapter, Thrivent Financial provides funding to support members like you who want to make a difference.  Accessing supplemental funds for fund-raising efforts, or funds to purchase supplies for hands-on service activities is easy.

When you see someone who needs help, or an activity which needs support form a team of volunteers, share your idea and information with Linda Waters, 3231 Oakdale Road, West Columbia, SC 29170-2633, email her at gwaters004@yahoo.com, or call her at 803-794-0110.  Linda is our chapter’s Community Service Team Director.

CONGREGATIONAL ADVOCATES NEEDED

To become a Congregational Advocate you need only to be a Thrivent Financial Member, have a desire to serve and a willingness to make a productive difference in ministry for your congregation and community.  Is your congregation receiving the Choice Dollars for which you may be eligible?   Each congregation can have up to 8 advocates.  For more information, contact Sara Coffman, 793 Riverbend Point, Leesville, SC 29070-7889, call 803-532-6108 or email her at sjcoffman2@aol.com.  Sara is our chapter’s Director of Congregational Advocates.
