| Cape Fear River Chapter, OCTOBER HAPPENINGS |
Each month our chapter welcomes new members. We don't see you but you are brought into our fold because you have moved into our geographic area. Some are benefit members and some are associate members. The Cape Fear River area includes Brunswick, Columbus and New Hanover Counties. We welcome you to this area and hope you are welcomed in your neighborhood and that you find a church home. When you do, please notify the folks in Appleton, WI so they can change their records as well. Just one of those administrative issues.
Lutheran Church of Reconciliation held a Silent Auction Bazaar and Yard Sale, gaining $6600 for their projects. Messiah Lutheran had a White elephant Sale and Yard Sale. They received a total of $2340. St Luke had a bake sale and concession at a concert. They received a total of $1008 for their projects.
St Matthew had a fund raiser for a Mission Trip: raised $2400, was supplemented $800 from Thrivent to provide $3200 for the mission trip.
St Paul held a quilt raffle raising $3100. Thrivent supplemented $1000 for a total of $4100 for the church.
Water of Life held a yard sale for camperships and a garage sale raising $1530. Thrivent supplemented $1300 to raise the total to $2830.
As of October 1 some churches in this chapter have not planned or reported fund raising Care in Congregations events.
| CHAPTER CARE ABOUNDS IN COMMUNITIES |
Events were held at various churches to benefit others in the community. These included the sale of Super Bowl Subs, Azalea Parade parking, Youth group Yard sale, Fund raising to provide a wheelchair for a child, support for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard food pantry, materials for Migrant Worker kits. Through Care Abounds in Communities, money from the fund raisers and supplemental funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, our chapter is responsible for providing $28,431 where needed in this area as of this date. Along with the money, 1499 volunteer hours were given. There are more projects still in process. Help when you can. Every hand helps the whole body.
By the time you receive this the chapter elections will be completed. The chapter board thanks everyone who took the time to vote. It may have been a simple process, but your vote shows you care enough to cast it. REMEMBER TO VOTE FOR YOUR GOVERNMENT ON NOVEMBER 6TH.
