CONGREGATIONAL SERVICE TEAM DIRECTOR  -  Thomas F. Moore  - biography
I was born in White Plains, New York, which is slightly north of New York City in Westchester County. I grew up there. My wife is a Marriage and Family counselor and continues to practice here in Owatonna and Rochester. We have raised five children, all now grown. There are 9 grandchildren, five boys and four girls. Three have graduated high school; my oldest grandson is presently serving in the U.S. Army. The older girls are in college.

Before retirement I left the company to become president of McKechnie Tooling and Engineering, also a British held company but in Staples, Minnesota. I have consulted in retirement with Amanex, a consultancy to top executives headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
I am a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The first six years were in the field of environmental health and the last 25 years have been in county administration. Trudy has taught in the language arts department at Owatonna High School for a total of 26 years. We have been members of Trinity Lutheran Church since moving to Owatonna. Our daughter, Meghan, is married and lives and works in the Twin Cities. Our son, Erik, is a senior at Gustavus. Trudy and I have both served on the Young Life Adult Committee and continue to be supportive of youth activities in the community.

MAKING A Gift OF $600 BECOME $900 BY USING 'GIVINGPLUS®'
One of the benefits of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans membership (owning a product or by becoming an associate member) is the opportunity to have one's gifts supplemented.  Through Thrivent's "GivingPlus" program, members can donate financial gifts to two different Lutheran organizations (i.e., a Lutheran College).     Thrivent Financial will supplement $1.00 for every $2.00 given up to $300 for each organization.  For instance, if a member donates gifts of $600 or more to an eligible Lutheran organization, Thrivent Financial will add $300...thus your gift will be increased by 50%!
How does one get a "GivingPlus" form to use when making a contribution?  Ask your congregation's
Congregational Coordinator for one (Their names were listed in a previous issue to our newsletter - go to HTTP://www.Lutheransonline.com/Owatonna Chapter).  If your parish has a Thrivent Bulletin Board, the form might be in one of the posted envelopes.
"GivingPlus" forms are also available on the Thrivent web site.  For complete details and guidelines about this one-of-a kind member benefit program and for copies of the Member Gift form, go to www.thrivent.vom/faternal/churchcommuinity/givingplus.html.
It is a very simple process and once you've used it, you will use it frequently...regularly!

HOW TO HELP YOUR CONGREGATION
Did you know that Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has a program called Care in Congregations® where funding is provided to Thrivent Financial members to conduct fund-raising and/or hands-on service activities to benefit your congregation or its related Lutheran institutions? In fact, Thrivent Financial members are encouraged to use the funds to help the congregation in its ministry to the community.

If you see a need in your congregation that could be helped through this funding, please contact a Thrivent Financial congregational coordinator in your congregation. If you don't know who your three congregational coordinators are, please contact a member of our chapter leadership board as noted in the newsletter sent out in January of 2005 (go to the Owatonna Chapter website), and he/she will help you get in touch with a coordinator.
