YOU ARE INVITED - September 23, 2007 - RESERVATIONS NEEDED
An all-members family picnic will be held on September 23 @ Dartts Park, Owatonna, 3 p.m.  This event is held jointly by the Owatonna Chapter and Steele County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  Our meal will consist of hamburgers, hotdogs or brats along with potato salad, fruit and beverage - door prizes will be drawn for.
Pastor Elaine Seimsen will share info regarding the Crossroads Ministry @ MN State University-Mankato, along with some musical selections.  Make your reservations by the 17th.

Free-will offering will be held for the Crossroads Ministry, Mankato.


Voting for 2008 board members will also be held during the picnic.

HELP SOUTHERN MINNESOTANS AFFECTED BY FLOODING
Join Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to help meet the needs of people impacted by flooding in Southern Minnesota.
Through its Care in Regions program, Thrivent Financial will add $1 to every $3 donated to the American Red Cross, up to $20,000.  Funds raised will be used to provide shelter, food and other assistance to flooding victims.


Write a check today, made payable to the American Red Cross, and send to Marlene Camilli, 812 South Street, Owatonna, MN 55060.  All donations will be sent collectively to our regional office, the supplement of $$$ will be added and then sent to the Red Cross working in Southeastern MN to assist with relief efforts there.  Please respond by September 30.


Together we can make a difference to so many at this difficult time.

THRIVENT BUILDS HOMES IN 2008
The Owatonna Chapter Board has approved partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build a home during 2008 in Steele County.  Since both organizations are committed to caring for others and improving lives in our communities, working together will be a powerful expression of faith.


More details will be forthcoming through you congregation when the need arises for volunteers to assist in the build or monetary donations are needed.  A "building co-ordinator" will work with area churches and the Thrivent Builds Specialist.

SUPPLEMENTAL $$$$$ GOING WHERE?
Thus far in 2007 suplemental dollars have been approved for 2 individual benefits, Exchange Club Center for Family Unity, Steele County Food Shelf, Contact Helpline, Rice Lake Church Restoration, Meford Boy Scouts, Troop 350, Steele County Historical Society, Cultural Diversity Network, Children's Remedial Fund, Steele County Clothesline and Transitional Housing.
By year end our chapter will have distributed $21,875.00 toward community needs!

CAN YOU HELP??
The seven congregations included in the Owatonna Chapter of Thrivent Financial each have 3 congregational co-ordinators providing assistance and info to their respective members.  The Care in Congregations program receives $$$ for supplementing various activities seeking funds within each congregation.  If these 3 co-ordinators are not in place for each parish, the supplemental $$$ are not made available for that congregations use.  We are in need of co-ordinators at Saint John Lutheran and Emmanuel Lutheran.  Please consider helping in this way  -  give a call to Thomas Moore, 455-0820.  Thanks for any consideration.
