| ALL MEMBER PICNIC - Sunday, September 18 |
Please plan to attend for food, entertainment and door prizes the all member picnic, to be held Sunday, Sept. 18 from 2:30 - 6:00 PM at Mineral Springs Park in Owatonna. This event is sponsored by both the Owatonna and Steele County Chapters of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The reservation deadline is September 9, so contact Scott Golberg at 213-0339 ASAP with the names and number of attendees. There is no charge to members, but you must register and vote before eating. 2:30 - 3:00 Registration 3:00 - 4:30 Announcements, entertainment (Sunday Punch), elections, door prizes 4:30 - 6:00 Picnic supper
As noted above, voting for the 2012 Owatonna Chapter leadership board will take place at the picnic. As a membership organization, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is unique to the financial services world in many ways. Our members choose who will represent them on the national board of directors governing the organization, as well as choose their local chapter leadership board. The election process is a very important way for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to demonstrate two required elements of a fraternal benefit society: 1. An active, viable chapter system that involves many members 2. A representative form of government Without this election process, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans would not qualify as a tax exempt fraternal benefit society and would not be able to provide the benefits to needy individuals, congregations and communities that it does today. Here are the individuals that are running for the Owatonna Chapter leadership positions in 2012:
President: Roland Truelson Vice President: Melody Hagel Financial Director: Gordon Meiners Records Director: Melissa Block Assistant Financial Director: TBD Communications Director: Mark Lysne Community Service Team Director: Dan Henrikson Events Director: TBD Director of Congregational Advocates: Linda Buzzard
If you have interest in becoming a chapter leader, please contact Scott Golberg at 213-0339. Exercise your right to vote in your chapter leadership board election, and take part in the fun, food, and entertainment at the picnic. See you there!

| Thrivent Choice: An easy way to help support what matters to you |
The Thrivent Choice program offers two ways members can recommend where to direct a portion of Thrivent Financial's charitable outreach funds. 1. Voting Events: All members (age 16 and older) can vote to help direct a portion of Thrivent Financial's charitable funds among a short list of national charities onr to two times per year. 2. Choice Dollars: Elegible benefit members can help direct funds all year long to thousands of Lutheran nonprofit organizations like schools, camps, colleges - or even to their Lutheran congregations. Benefit members age 16 or older are eligible to participate in Choice Dollars if they (A) hold a Thrivent Financial volunteer leadership postion, or (B) have $800 or more in annual premiums of qualifying insurance products, or (C) have $20,000 or more in contract value of qualifying products.
Member eligibilty under current eligibility requirements is determined monthly, and these eligibility requirements are re-evaluated on an annual basis. Participation is simple and easy, without any complicated forms to complete. You'll be able to vote or direct Choice Dollars in a way that's convenient for you.
