Hudson Valley NY Chapter, Congregational Coordinator Edition, March 2006
Annual Congregational Coordinator Meet & Eat
On Saturday, April 29, 2006, a Meet & Eat will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, lunch included, at the Holiday Inn in Middletown NY. This informative session is being offered free of charge by the Chapter Leaders to provide valuable information to the congregations of the Hudson Valley NY Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
While this mailing is being sent to Congregational Coordinators, each of you is encouraged to also invite your pastor, a spouse, another member of your congregation, ANYONE who is interested in learning more about Thrivent and the Hudson Valley NY Chapter. Come hear exciting news about 2006, including Join Hands Day, the "Raising Hope Around the World" Care in Regions® fundraiser we are continuing from 2005 and the Thrivent Builds project approved in our chapter. Come meet your Chapter Leaders, including your Congregational Service Team Director, Deb Kress, whose job it is to help you in your role as Congregational Coordinator. Take advantage of this opportunity to meet with Congregational Coordinators from other churches, to share your experiences, triumphs, challenges and solutions to common problems. Learn how to multiply your ministry dollars, and, of course, enjoy food and fellowship!
Please RSVP to Deb Kress via email kress@hvc.rr.com or phone (845) 246-1026, no later than April 12. Please indicate the number of people attending from your church. Mark this important day on your calendar and plan on joining us! Please contact Deb with any questions you may have.

Care Abounds in Communities® Application Guidelines
As a Congregational Coordinator, you are already aware of the Care in Congregations® program funds available to your congregation, but did you know there are other funds available for your community? Eligible recipients for the Care Abounds in Communities® program are individuals, families, local communities or organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, excluding congregations. (This includes charitable, educational and religious organizations, excluding congregations.)
Although congregations are not eligible recipients for the Care Abounds in Communities® program, remember that service teams still can use the program to help an eligible recipient.
Requests for Care Abounds in Communities® funds are made through the Chapter Leaders, not through the Thrivent Fraternal Service Center. The criteria used by the Chapter Leaders, as well as an application, can be found on our Chapter's website www.lutheransonline.com/hudsonvalleynychapter or you can contact Deb Kress via email kress@hvc.rr.com or phone (845) 246-1026 to have information mailed to you.
