2007 Chapter Board Election Results
Many thanks to everyone who participated in the annual Chapter Board elections in October & November by hosting an election site AND VOTING. We are happy to report that all seven candidates received the necessary number of votes to be elected to the positions for which each was nominated. In addition, we have since received inquiries from a couple of other individuals who are interested in getting involved. This can be done through appointments made by the new chapter board after the new year. Congratulations to our 2007 Chapter Leadership Board! We would also like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the current leaders who are stepping down at the end of 2006. Your leadership & dedication have made the chapter a success in its role as a representative of Thrivent within the Hudson Valley communities. We have been blessed to have you serve.

"Raising Hope Around the World" Fundraising Report
Service teams within our chapter organized several significant fundraisers in November to benefit the "Raising Hope Around the World" project, which is being matched at a 1:3 ratio through the Care in RegionsĀ® program. On Nov. 18 there was a wonderful concert & silent auction at the Colony Cafe in Woodstock, featuring Ars Choralis, Sara Kramer Harrison, Faithful Folk, Unicorn and a Classical Jazz Ensemble. This event raised over $3300 in four hours between donations at the door and bids on the auction items! Many thanks to those who donated their time & talents in the organization and performance aspects of this event, and also to those who donated items for the auction.
Another $960 was raised through the efforts of the members of Christ's Lutheran in Woodstock, who took orders for apple & pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, and then baked 127 pies in six hours on the Sunday before Thanksgiving! Some of the expenses involved were covered by additional donations, maximizing the fundraising efforts. Thanks go out to everyone involved: taking orders, purchasing ingredients, apple peeling, dough rolling, and cleaning up... and to those who purchased the pies to enjoy with families & friends on Thanksgiving Day.
Thrivent Builds Newburgh Dedication Scheduled
In spite of asbestos related delays, the Thrivent Builds site on Henry Ave in Newburgh has progressed quite well the past several months. This project was not a brand new build, but rather a demolition and replacement of the existing, unstable house, and there were many surprises found along the way. Overcoming these obstacles was challenging at times, and resulted in a fairly significant delay in the progress of the house, BUT the volunteers came through in the end, putting forth an extra effort to make sure the project was finished in the time allotted. We are happy to announce that the dedication is scheduled for Saturday, December 9. More information about this Thrivent Builds site can be found at www.thriventbuildsnewburgh.org. More information about Habitat of Greater Newburgh can be found at www.habitatnewburgh.org.
Our chapter has submitted an application for another Thrivent Builds project for 2007, and if we are approved, we will once again be looking for YOUR help in raising funds and wielding tools on a Thrivent Builds site!
