Doctor Osman J. GRIGGS was born on 14 Oct 1844 in Vermont.52 (His gravestone lists his year
of birth as 1845.)
He appeared in the census in 1850 in Colchester, Chittenden County, VT.60 He appeared in the census in
1860 in Barre Township, La Crosse County, WI.41
He was living with his parents. Between 1865 and 1870 he was a druggist in
Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.58,94 At the time of his marriage
in 1866, his occupation was listed as "Druggist." Between 1870 and
1877 he was a medical doctor.64
He appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.53 He and his wife were living
next door to the family of his father, Lucius, and his occupation was listed
as "Druggist." He died on 16 Aug 1877 in Monroe County, WI.52,62
Obituary Notes: "In Tomah, Wis., Thursday evening, Aug. 16th, 1877, Mr.
O. J. Griggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Griggs, in the 33rd year of his age."
He died 4 days after his mother, and his grave marker is on the opposite side
of hers on their grave obelisk. The cause of his death is not known. He was
buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.52 in the Oak Grove Cemetery (Original Plat, Block 2,
Lot 70).
Doctor Osman J. GRIGGS and Anna "Annie" WOODLEY were married on 4 Jul 1866
in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.94,95 They were
married at the M. E. Church by W. S. Wright, and their witnesses were F. C. Brock
and Ruth Brock.

WOODLEY (daughter of Reverend Mathias WOODLEY and Julia Ann UNKNOWN (WOODLEY))
was born about 1850 in Pennsylvania.53

(his given name is not clear), age 9, born in Wisconsin.
(The 1900 Census for Eau Claire lists "Halvord Calvert," born May 1872,
age 28, Single, born in Wisconsin, and occupation "Dentist," and living
alone at 115 South Farwell Street. His father was born in Wisconsin and his
mother in Minnesota. His mother's birth place does not match that of Anna Woodley,
who was born in Pennsylvania, but he may have been the "Halle Calvert"
that was listed in the 1880 Census as the son of Anna and Charles Calvert.)
