BUILDING
PROJECTS
At the last Special Congregational Meeting, we successfully voted on two
motions. The first was to set up a
Remodeling Building Fund. The
motion puts into place a fund drive where when we raise $3000, Phase One of the
Three Phases would begin. So the
Remodeling Fund has begun. In the
first two weeks, we have raised $250.
So
what is Phase One? Phase One is a
remodeling of the narthex. This is
the front entrance and the space from the outside doors to the swinging doors
that go into the church sanctuary. We
voted to remove the wall in the Cry Room and eliminate one bathroom.
This will increase the usable space from 140 sq. feet to 400 sq. feet.
This should help the flow of people entering the sanctuary.
We will remodel the remaining bathroom to become more wheelchair
accessible.
We
will have to put new beams up so the ceiling does not cave in and we will have
to carpet the area. For the most
part, we believe we will be able to do the destruction and construction
ourselves. The estimated cost to
complete Phase One is $6000 to $6500. No
work will begin until we raise $3000. So
please give what you can towards this project.
Phase
Two and Three will need further congregation action before they would begin.
We are just concentrating on Phase One for now.
In
the basement of the church you can find a bulletin board that has drawings and
more detail about all phases. Take
a look
