Centennial Message
from Pastor Steve
The Centennial Theme Verse is from the great
Commission, Mathew 28: 19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and
lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”
As we have looked at the history of St. John’s Lutheran, it is very
obvious that God the Father has been with us every day of this past
century. And as we look
forward, we are confident that He will be with us, leading and guiding
us as we minister to His people this next century.
God was present as the two Itinerant Preachers
began the ministry to the people of Medical Lake.
He was with those founding families as they homesteaded the land
and raised their families in the Christian faith of their forefathers.
It took great courage and faithfulness to labor in His Kingdom.
We honor them and thank them for the heritage we now possess.
There were many men, women and children who
faithfully worshiped the Living God, who faithfully taught the Word of
God to one another, and who ministered to the needs of the people.
We are fortunate to have Henrietta Wilkes, the Willms family, the
Tesch (Glasgow) family, the Rosenau family, the Heyer family, and other
relatives of our founding fathers still present.
God blessed them so that they have been a blessing to us all.
They were inspired by God and led by the Holy Spirit to tell
others of Christ. The
result of which is that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we have
witnessed our faith in Christ to others and have loved one another.
Thanks be to God that He sent you to St. John’s Lutheran as well as
thanks be to God for sending all the pastors and members whom God used
to make this congregation strong, a witness to the community, and an
outpost for the spreading of the Gospel to all.
Give thanks and praise to God!
