OUTREACH NOTES
Throughout the year not only the Outreach committee, but many
members of Holy Trinity have assisted in supporting many of the church's
activities, community events and I just want to thank everyone who has donated
their time and talents to the community and programs that we offer.

The mission of the Plymouth Community Food Pantry is to strive to be an
outreach agency providing food subsidies and referral services for
families and individuals in partnership with other community
organizations. The pantry is working to foster a caring atmosphere for
the welfare of our community and we are dedicated to maintaining
continuous growth in services to assist our clients to improve their
quality of life.
Description:
The Plymouth Community Food Pantry provides the distribution of food to
the hungry and undernourished residents of the town of Plymouth.
History:
The Plymouth Community Food Pantry began years ago as an ecumenical
organization in the Terryville Congregational Church. That facility
became to small to effectively service the community and therefore moved
to a larger location at 244 Main Street, Terryville.

NURSERY: The nursery is
available for young children during service. Volunteers for the nursery during Sunday
services are always needed.
Many volunteers have signed up as nursery volunteers, please note that to make
this a success, volunteers should arrive at the church approximately 10 - 15
minutes prior to church starting and greet any potential guests with little
ones, and invite them to join you in the nursery. (2) volunteers should
always be available for nursery to relieve the other volunteer when
necessary. If you cannot be there, please find a substitute. The loud
speaker downstairs enables you to here Pastor announce when it is time for the
children to come up for their "special message", then they can return
downstairs afterwards. There are also other activity items downstairs to keep
the children entertained.
All parents of nursery age
children are encouraged to participate, as your child will have the opportunity
to share in fellowship with others of the same age group. If you have an
interest, but have not yet signed up for the nursery but would like to, please
see Cathy Wollenberg or leave a message in the church office to be added to the schedule.
Many thanks to all the volunteers for your effort.
MEETINGS ARE THE FIRST SUNDAY EVERY OTHER
MONTH

CANS CAN DO IT
RETURNABLE BOTTLE DRIVE COLLECTION
Too lazy to turn in your bottles and cans? Saturday
mornings there will be a couple of vehicles ready to pick up bottles and cans.
Please CLEAN BAG ALL REDEEMABLE BOTTLES AND CANS.
Contact Mandy Bates at
860-589-2353 and advise that you have a CAN PICK UP - leave your address and
phone number and someone will confirm that bottles will be picked up. (This
program has proven to be quite a success in the past - hundreds of dollars can
be earned toward the 2004
National Youth Gathering)
Pop Tab
Collection
Collecting pop tabs is fun --- it can also be habit forming;
but what a good habit when one knows that the dollars raised goes
to helping families and children have a place called
"home" keeping them close by during the hospitalization
of their seriously ill child.
Since pop tabs are aluminum and can be recycled, there are
fund-raising projects that collect them and donate the proceeds to
charity. Why the tabs and not the whole can? Because
the tabs are pure aluminum, as opposed to the cans, which have
paint on them and some recyclers don't like the residue of the
soda pop inside. Also, you can store and transport more tabs
than would be occupied by cans using the same space. A
truckload of cans yields about $50 at the recycler while a
truckload of tabs yields about $1,000.
You can donate your tabs - drop of containers are in the
fellowship hall. Proceeds will benefit a local child with a
serious illness.
Thanks to
you we have collected approximately 20 lbs of tabs so far.
CAN TAB TID BITS:
1280 TABS = 1 LB
1 MILLION TABS = 782 LBS
LENTEN LUNCHEON
2003 Outreach committee members assisted in hosting a Lenten luncheon in conjunction with
YMCA.
Outreach committee sponsored a supper during Lent with soup
and sandwiches, money collected helped defray the cost of Easter baskets donated
to Small Wonders.
In 2003 Lance and Anna Barton donated their
time and made 10 baskets, the Village Florist wrapped and delivered them free of
charge, and a thank you card went out.
