"I
am pleased to learn this video is now available, which portrays the
great sacrifices and struggles our Saxon forefathers faced when they
left their homeland to come to a new country. The challenges they
faced and the opportunities presented to them, illustrate how good and
gracious our Lord is to His people when they reach out in faith to
accomplish new and exciting things. May all who view this video be
inspired by the struggle of the Saxon Immigrants."
--Dr. A.L. Barry,
LC-MS President |

| Saxon
Lutheran Heritage, Inc. has just produced a new video entitled
"From Faith To Faith" which tells the story of the original
Saxon immigrants to Perry County, Missouri from Saxony, Germany and the
impact they had on the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in the years
surrounding 1847 when the Synod was formed.
This
45-minute video, which is a must for every congregation's library, is
broken into six sections. A Bible-based discussion guide has been
written to complement the video making, making it a wonderful
educational tool for the classroom or private discussion.

"I thank God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did...I am
reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother...mother...and,
I am now persuaded, now lives in you also...fan into flame the gift of
God..."

| 2
Timothy 1:3, 5-6 |
|
|
| For
many years, a handful of people with roots in Perry County, Missouri have
wanted to "fan into flame" their "His-Story." They felt that Walther,
Loeber, Winter and countless others belonged in
the "Church's Hall of Fame" as the heros our younger generation
could look up to.
In some
ways, the story of the Saxon migration to Perry County, Missouri is no
different than the stories of countless others who migrated to America in
the 1800s and early 1900s. But, there is one thing that separates
them from the masses. The Saxon immigrants did not come looking for
fame and fortune. They came for one thing alone...Religious
Freedom. |
|
|
With
the leadership of Martin Stephan, some 700 believers traveled halfway
around the world from Saxony, Germany to find a religious freedom that had
no part in "holding reason above Scripture." They wanted
only to practice the teaching of Martin Luther without the restrictions
placed on them in Saxony. Little did they know what hardships faced
them.

"Faith
To Faith adds human
faces and feelings to the facts we've learned from books about our
Synod's history. This is a good service to our church!"
