About Us: [Sunday, September 22, 2002 - 10:48 PM] By Mark Holdenried, PIUM WebServant
PIUM is a coalition of LCMS Congregations within the St. Louis Metropolitan Area, focused on "urban ministry". Each "PIUM Member Church" has signed a "Letter of Committment" and has designated a "Delegate" (and one or more "Alternate Delegates"), who represents that congregation. An "Assembly of Delegates" (General Board) is the main voting body for PIUM. The Officers (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Member-at-Large) and the Advisors (Members of an "Advisory Committee", most of whom represent an associated organization) comprise the "Executive Board", on which only the Officers have a vote. There are a few Committees (see below) and several "Ministry Teams", each led by a "Team-Leader".
PIUM Objectives:
-
To join hands to reach the lost in our neighborhoods with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to bring hope to the people, help to the weak, and the lost to their Savior
-
To enable congregations to share resources, train leaders, build neighborhood relationships, serve people, and mobilize people for ministry
-
To encourage, equip, entrust, and empower the laity of the member congregations in whom the authority and responsibility of PIUM, a grassroots organization, ultimately rests, for ministry in their congregations and communities
Check the "PIUM By-Laws".
