A Celebration of Love(s)

Final preparations  are being made for St. Tim’s “A Celebration of Love(s)” on Sunday, February  12, 2012. One service will be held at 9:15 a.m. The 50th Anniversary Committee is reaching out to people of all ages in the congregation to participate and prepare for the service. In the spirit of love for your church (and those you love) ,  please  say “YES” to these requests!

Y Here are the easy ones….

·        Everyone who can pray will pray that the committee and congregation will come together to make the day a meaningful one for those who regularly attend worship and for those who are coming back to St. Tim for this one special day.

·        Everyone who can pray will pray that volunteers will find it in their hearts to fulfill the requests on this list.

·        Everyone who can pray will pray that there will not be a blizzard or even a significant snowfall that weekend (some couples already have committed to come from out of town and out of state!

YNow we get to the food and the fun…we’re Lutherans…these should be easy, too….

·        All professional and amateur bakers who can bake 2 dozen or more vanilla cupcakes, or  sugar cookies with vanilla icing, or muffins, or some fruity vanilla concoction, etc.  It’s going to be a very “vanilla day.”

·        Someone who can make coffee, heat up hot water for tea, and whip up an especially sweet blend of fruit punch that morning.

·        Volunteers to help decorate the church and prepare the social hall the day before the celebration.

YHere’s the challenging part….The committee is praying reeeeeeeeally hard about these requests.

·        Anyone of any age who has even wanted to know what it’s like to read a lesson from the altar area, you can find out on February 12 alone or with a group.

·        Anyone who plays a musical instrument with just a little bit of competency, anyone who sings in the shower and  any of St. Tim’s amateur vocalists, here’s your chance to show off your talent! You don’t need to be a member of the choir or praise band…but those folks are especially welcome, too!

·        Any mothers who have children of any age who will attend worship with them on February  12 are asked to make possible an encore performance by a “mom’s choir,” (which debuted Christmas Eve 2008) even if you want to sing along only very softly. No lip syncing allowed.

·         Any and all men to take part in a premiere by a “men’s  chorus.”  Consider participating as a gift to your “special someone.”

YAll singers and musicians will be given music to practice on your own.  The songs are familiar and easy! You probably can find some on an 8-track, CD, or I-Tunes. Some will bring back memories! There will be only a couple rehearsals, and you don’t even have to attend all of them ! There will definitely be rehearsal the Friday or Saturday evening before the celebration.  Attending one of those rehearsals is kind of “mandatory,” but you  only have to be there one night!

Please find the sign-up sheet in the narthex,

find love in your heart, and find the pen, sign your name, and help the “Celebration of Love(s)” be a “Celebration of the Spirit of the People of St. Tim’s!”
