Requests for the board's monthly meeting need to be sent NO LATER than the last day of the previous month.

2012 Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity Family
Thrivent Builds 2012 with Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity Lansing was notified that they have been awarded a Thrivent Builds grant for 2012. The project is planned to include "green" components.

Build Status as of April 2012:
The Location of the Build
a. The 2012 Thrivent Builds project will be located on Wayne Street, which is off of Aurelius Road between Jolly Road and Cavanaugh Road in south Lansing.
b. The lot is at the east end (dead end) of the road.

4. Update on the Build Schedule
a. The anticipated start date for the build is the end of May. This is due primarily due to other builds and the need to get the geothermal system in.
b. It may be possible to start building the walls for the house in Habitat’s warehouse before starting work on the site. Habitat will check into this.
c. Kick-Off Event
i. Habitat is organizing a Kick-off event for the build to recognize the organizations who have given money to support this build.
ii. The Kick-off Event is scheduled for May 3.
iii. There will be a separate Ground Blessing Event.
d. Ground Blessing Event
i. The Ground Blessing Event is scheduled for May 8 at 5:30 pm.
ii. The Ground Blessing will take place on site.
e. Weekly work schedule
i. Habitat will offer the following work sessions for this year’s project
1. Tuesday through Thursday – morning and evening
2. Friday and Saturday – morning
ii. The following was agreed to for the regularly scheduled work schedule for the Thrivent Builds project:
1. Tuesday evening (5:30 pm to 8:30 pm)
2. Friday morning (9:00 am to 12:00 pm)
3. Saturday morning (9:00 am to 12:00 pm)
iii. If a congregation or organization would like to work during one of the other work sessions that can be arranged.
iv. There will not be congregations assigned to each work day. If a congregation would like pick a specific day to recruit for that will be accommodated.
•Congregations currently with a Champion = University, Faith, Redeemer, Ascension, Our Savior and Messiah. Grace is seeking approval from the church council.

The service team leader for grant requests will be asked to be the board's guest at the dinner meeting when the grant will be discussed and acted on.
