ASK Parenting a "typical" child can sometimes be a daunting task. For parents of children with special needs, simple everyday things like eating, walking, or talking can seem like insurmountable hurdles. ASK is a new outreach program whose mission is simply to Assist Special Kids and their families. ASK will provide a FREE, friendly, positive arena where caregivers can recharge and network with others in similar situations, learn more about their child’s disability, and listen to various guest speakers. ASK is open to families and caregivers of special needs children throughout Massachusetts. In addition, our group will act as a liaison between caregivers and the Tantasqua school district. This relationship could enable parents and caregivers to have a direct impact on special education programs. Furthermore, Tantasqua’s Special Education Director has embraced ASK and offered her full support including funding, mailings, personnel, and State resources to enable ASK to effectively assist special kids and their families. The Kennedy Donovan Center in Southbridge has also extended its services and vast resource library for our disposal! The support and encouragement for this program has been delightfully overwhelming! ASK has already been successful in helping some parents and caregivers get the information and support they needed. Stop by at our next meeting and see what we have to offer. ASK meets every second Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Bethlehem Lutheran Church is located at the corner of Routes 20 and 131 in Sturbridge, MA. DIRECTIONS: Mass Pike West to Exit 9 (Sturbridge/Rte 84). Take first Exit after toll (Rte 20 West). At the first light, take a LEFT (Rte 131). Take immediate RIGHT. (You’ll see a big sign for Bethlehem Lutheran Church) Church driveway will be your first left. The church parking lot is also a "Park and Ride" location so follow signs for that.
