Fourteenth Generation

777. Raymond Charles RICH15 was born on 11 Jan 1897 in New Britain, Hartford County, CT.49 When Raymond was about sixteen and living in Hemet, CA, he went up to a ranch in the mountains and was kicked in the left temple by a horse. He was taken home by horse and buggy and then to a hospital in Riverside, CA. After the accident he had problems with seizures.

During World War I, he was on a hospital ship and was singing with a group around a piano, when he had another seizure and fell, hitting his left temple on the corner of the piano. After this accident, he obtained complete service disability. As time went on, he continued to have seizures, but military doctors would not operate. His brother, Henry, knew of a well-known surgeon in Santa Barbara, CA and Raymond went to see him. The doctor felt he could surgically help him. Special nurses were not available, so after the operation his mother and brother took turns sitting with him around the clock for four to five days after the surgery. Raymond's memory returned and he was looking forward to living a more normal life, but died of a blood clot to the heart. His daughter, Eileen, continued to receive a military pension until her eighteenth birthday. He died on 15 Jul 1927 in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, CA.

Raymond Charles RICH and Isabella Josephine CARAZZA were married on 23 Feb 1921 in New York, New York County, NY. 1. Vital Records. Isabella Josephine CARAZZA15 was born on 13 Nov 1902 in Portonovo, Italy.49 Isabella arrived in USA on SS France, French Line, Pier 88, North River, NY, April 26, 1912. She had a nickname of "Bobby" and she acquired this moniker when she worked in a manufacturing plant during the war. She and a girlfriend started wearing pants and large sailor shirts to work and they became know as "Billy" and "Bobby". Isabella was called this nickname by her family for the rest of her life, although she disliked the name. Her sister, Sylvia, always tried to remember to call her Isabel, but Sylvia's daughter's still called her Bobby.

Isabella lied on her marriage application by stating she was born in Switzerland and her middle name was Bertha. It is believed she did this to impress her future mother-in-law, Bertha Alt. She died on 26 Jan 1984 in Los Angeles County, CA. Raymond Charles RICH and Isabella Josephine CARAZZA had the following children:
