What We Believe
We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and inerrant Word. It consists of Law and Gospel. In the Law, God shows us our sin and our need for forgiveness. In the Gospel, God gives us the forgiveness of sins which Christ won for us on the cross.
We believe in the Triune God. There are three Persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) but only one Divine Being. Apart from the Triune God, there is no god. He alone is to be worshipped.
We believe that no one can come to the Father apart from the Son. This means that without faith in Christ, it is impossible to worship God or to truly believe in Him in the way that He wants to be believed.
We believe that the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, created the universe in 6 days as recorded in the book of Genesis.
We believe that Adam and Eve disobeyed God and in so doing brought sin and death into the world. Man is now born without righteousness, spiritually blind and lacking the knowledge of God.
We believe that God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and is true man and true God, in one person. Jesus fulfilled the law for us, and suffered and died for us. His death atoned for the sins of the world. On the third day after His death, He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God. He shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that, while Christ won forgiveness for the whole world, that forgiveness is only received through faith in Christ.
We believe that God gives us the forgiveness that Jesus won for us in the means of grace (The Gospel, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper). Through the means of grace, God creates and sustains faith in us, and conveys to us the forgiveness that Jesus won for us on the cross.
We believe that Baptism is the water comprehended in God’s command and connected with God’s Word. It works forgiveness of sins, delivers from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe this.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ under the bread and wine. In the Lord’s Supper, forgiveness of sins, life and salvation are given to us, along with Christ’s true body and blood.
