Psalms of Joy

Welcome to Psalms of Joy. Just as the flickering light of the firefly we’re watching on a summer evening pales in comparison to the blazing sun at noonday, so all the things we most enjoy fade when we compare them with the joy our Lord can give us:

The joy that he, the Creator of the whole universe, loves you and me—delights in us, even.

The joy that he’s promised to never leave us.

The joy that he’s preparing a place for us to be with him forever.

And the joy that he gives our lives purpose as, each day, we join him in sharing his love with those around us.

You and I are not nobody. You and I are not nothing. You and I are our Lord’s beloved.

Life doesn’t get much better than that.

“Here, Dad, you take these logs. I’m going back down the mountain and play Wii with the guys who came with us till you get finished doing whatever it is that you think you have to do.”

When the Cinnamon Roll
Is Called Up Yonder

Petronius stood with his weight first on one foot, then on the other. The line ahead of him was moving so slowly that it would be ages before he got his turn at the Judgment Seat. Suddenly all his senses jumped to attention. What was that delicious smell?
