As we prepare for the 45th anniversary celebration, we are including plans to recognize several very important people at Grace: our chartered members. With God’s blessings, these individuals had the faith, determination, and courage to found Grace Lutheran Church in 1964. Today, in 2009, we are enjoying the fruits of their labors as we worship, study, and fellowship in a beautiful structure with dozens of fellow members and friends of Grace. Indeed, we are indebted to these chartered members for their foresight and perseverance.
Who are these individuals? How many do you know? Grace’s official list of chartered members includes the following: Mrs. Bertha Baird, Mr. and Mrs. James Falconer, Mr. J. Coleman Falconer, Mr. and Mrs. William Hirsch, Mr. David Hirsch, Mr. William Hirsch, Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maccubbin, Mrs. Arthur Mueller, Mr. Kenneth Mueller, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Muller, Miss Susan Muller, Mr. D. Bruce Muller, Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. James Olinger, Mrs. James Puckett, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roberts, Mr. Darrold Roberts, Mrs. William Sheffield, Rev. and Mrs. Peter Steinke, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams, and Mr. Wayne Weaver. Also included in the unofficial listing are Mr. and Mrs. Reade Shook, who were not actually able to be present on Nov. 1, 1964 but who were a part of the founding group.
On Nov. 1, 2009, our 45th anniversary celebration day, we would like everyone to give special recognition to our chartered members in our special activities. Be sure to mark your calendars! In the meantime, say a word of thanks to a chartered member!
