PRESCHOOL NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2010

Dear families,

I hope spring is on its way; what a loooonnng winter we have had! It is unfortunate we have had so many snow days. But I am glad that both classes have had an almost equal number of days missed. The M/W session will get a makeup day on March 31, which will even the score. Fortunately, we had a full week of school prior to Labor Day.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the valentines, sweets, cards, and small gifts! Also, a special thank you to Angie Kruse and the T/Th class for your “thoughtful hearts” that we look forward to reading after we have been together.

Last week, I introduced a unit on Our 5 Senses. We began learning about the sense of taste and enjoyed a salty snack of cheese and crackers. The bracelets we made smelled fruity and tasted sweet! Our Jesus Time stories will follow a “miracle theme.” In our story last week, we learned how Jesus fed 5000+ people with a little boy’s lunch.

I have started testing the children on basic concepts and motor skills, but it has been slow due to the missed days. Please make sure your child is getting a nutritious breakfast and sufficient sleep so that he/she can perform well.

NEXT WEEK IS NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK! We want you to join in celebrating these special days by wearing our school colors red & white on Monday/Tuesday, and wearing “comfy” clothes (sweats, pajamas, slippers, etc.) on Wednesday/Thursday. Make sure to have appropriate shoes for the gym if you wear slippers.

IMPORTANT DATES: March 8-12-National Lutheran Schools Week
March 26- Family Fun Fair-Make a craft @ our SPL booth
March 31-Parent-teacher conferences after school & evening
April 1-Parent-teacher conferences in the morning

SHARE BAG THEME: Purple, Diamond

BIRTHDAY SNACK: Emma-Monday, March 22

Blessings in this Lenten Season,

Mrs. Kara Closs
