(28 May 03) After several years of service as church planting missionaries in Guatemala, Herb and Markie Burch are returning to the states.Recent budget cuts by the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod Board for Mission Services resulted in recalling missionaries across the globe.
Since arriving in Guatemalain the mid-1990's, Lord has richly blessed our work here...The foundation of two churches,
a new school in Guatemala City, a new library at the American School of
Guatemala. We thank all of you for your prayers.
The Central Coast Lutheran Mission Society(CCLMS) has extended a call to Pastor Burch to serve as missionary at large for a three year period. This requires outreach to the largely Hispanic population of Circuit 9 of the California, Nevada, Hawaii District. The CCLMS and circuit is comprised of seven congregations along the California coast from Paso Robles south to Lompoc. All of the congregations are predominately Anglo in nature, but with a strong desire to reach out to other ethnic groups with the Gospel.
The Burches travel to Santa Maria on the June 4th to meet with the Circuit pastors and CCLMS. They also will do some preliminary inquiries into
outreach possibilities, housing, schools.
As they consider this call, they ask for your prayers that the Holy Spirit would guide us to do HIs will.
