(8 Jun 03) A summer camp for missionary dependents in Guatemala is being led by five youth workers from St. Paul. The camp is for children whose parents are missionaries in Guatemala. Known as "Missionary Kids," or MKs, the children represent a variety of church denominations with missionaries in Guatemala.
LBT missionaries Paul and Tammy Kinney first suggested organizing a summer camp especially for MKs. Typically, MKs do not have the opportunity to attend summer camp like their stateside peers.
The Kinneys then asked stateside church workers to help make the camp a reality.
Sue Davis, St. Paul's Children's Ministry coordinator is heading up the camp. She is joined by Kathy Dierker, Kathy Walston, Wendy Neidigk, and Steve Moore.
A group of high school students will join the five in Guatemala and serve as youth camp counselors.
The week-long event is being held at Camp Canaan, near Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
