Yesterday, when Stan went to take some photos for this update, he learned how this small, local, Christian radio station came into being. Five years ago, Diego, was a very sick man with a severe case of gastroenteritis and malaria. He was so ill that he had not been able to work at his job as a mason for two years. He was visited from time to time by a local Protestant pastor who prayed for him and urged him to read God's Word.Diego heeded the pastor's advice. On his sickbed he read from the Bible. Time passed and eventually Diego came to know our LORD Jesus as his Savior. The LORD gave him a compelling desire to share the Gospel with as many people as possible. Now he is doing this with his radio broadcasting. He and his family have invested their own financial resources in starting this radio station. They are helped financially by Christians in the area with small offerings .
We rejoice for yet another way of sharing God's Word to the Uspantecos through the radio station: Fuente de Salvación. Last week Cristobal convinced Diego and his sons, Hilberto and Cesar, to air our new Jonah recording. We are in awe of how God works in the hearts of His servants. For more photos and details of Diego and his family go to: www.uspanteco.org and click on New Radio Station at the top of the home page.
Personal Note: Stan's Mom is now with Jesus, the Source of Our Salvation. She went to be with our LORD on February 28th. We arrived at the hospital in Council Bluffs, IA late on the 25th. Our four children were able to be there to say goodbye to their Gramma Susie before she died. It was a sad time, but we are thankful that she is no longer suffering. She was known as Gramma Susie to literally dozens of children whom she babysat for at different times. Her baby sitting career spanned a period of over 30 years.
It also was a very special occasion because it had been 17 years since we and our four children had been all together at the same time. Please pray for Stan's dad, Loyd, that he can find strength and comfort sufficient for each day. His wife of 63 years is no longer at his side.
So until next time, we thank you for your gifts and prayers and remain with you on behalf of others, Stan & Margot McMillen
