Emmanuel Lutheran Church
Youth Programs - 2002Friday Morning Prayer Breakfast remains our main youth program. The 2002-2003 year is the 15th year of this high school ministry. The program is a shared lay ministry with support from the pastors. The ministry is shared by all four churches in Reardan. Breakfast is served beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday mornings during the school year, and rotates around town, with each church hosting for a month at a time in turn. Breakfast and a devotional is offered, with the devotional sometimes being a speaker, sometimes a video, and sometimes a Bible study. Since the breakfast rotates among the Lutheran, Catholic, Methodist and Presbyterian churches, as we move through the church year, it offers a chance to also share our individual worship cultures.
This last year we have been serving between 3 and 33 students plus the moms and dads and pastors. Susan Maham and Claudia Holtz have been the lay ministers for Emmanuel's share of Friday Morning Prayer Breakfast. We have had help with supplying the food and we can always use more help. Mostly it is a matter of asking.
We would like to offer some activity for the high school youth for a Sunday afternoon like we have done in the past. We will work on getting that set up.
Budget for the coming year - none expected for Breakfast but if we can get the additional activity going, some backup funds might be needed. We would like to have a Spaghetti Feed or Ice Cream Social as a fund raiser to get some of the funding for the additional fun activities.
Respectfully submitted,
Claudia Holtz
