FROM THE DESK OF PASTOR MIKE:
Well, even though, summer is over and you have a million things going on, God encourages us to REMAIN FAITHFUL!!! “Our Lord Jesus Christ said, "If you continue in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free” (John 8:31-32). God is not only speaking to his disciples then, but he is speaking to us as well. He wants us to REMAIN FAITHFUL AND CONTINUE IN HIS WORD. This is told to us by Jesus himself. It is not to be taken lightly. He wants us to stay in His Word, to trust in His Word because by trusting in Him, we REMAIN FAITHFUL TO HIM!
Even when you have a million things going on this summer such as pool parties, birthday parties, soccer, baseball, basketball, running, etc., Remember that God calls us to REMAIN FAITHFUL: If you continue in My Word, you are truly My disciples.” We are His disciples. He has set us apart; He has made us holy; He has made us one of His children through our baptisms. This calling that He has given to us is very special and should be near and dear to us. He loved us that much that He sent His Holy Spirit and chose us to become one of His own. Our daddy in heaven loves us very much and cares for us. Jesus is explaining this to us.
As we have garage sales, work days at the church, sporting events to go to, parties to attend, friends to visit, vacations to go on, don’t forget what it means to REMAIN FAITHFUL! This is not something that I made up. It is something God has instructed us in the 3rd commandment: “Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” It is a command for us to follow. This command means to set aside one day of the week to honor God.
How do we do this? We do this by going to hear His Word in church, attend Bible studies, and come to Vacation Bible school. We do this at least one day a week. For all that He has given us, we can set aside one day for Him, so as you are planning your vacations, going to your sporting events, working at Vacation Bible School, or whatever else you have going on this summer: REMAIN FAITHFUL. REMAIN FAITHFUL IN HIS WORD BECAUSE THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH (JESUS) AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!
ENJOY YOUR SUMMER, BUT ALSO REMEMBER TO ENJOY GOD’S WORD AND LOVE BY REMAINING FAITHFUL AND SETTING ASIDE A DAY FOR HIM. IN HIS HOLY AND PRECIOUS NAME BE ALL THE GLORY! AMEN.
