St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church was dedicated in Weissport in 1893. Through all these years many things have changed, not only in this small town but also throughout the world - yet one thing has not changed - the mission of this church. We are here to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. We do this as we conduct worship services, administer Holy Communion and Baptism, teach children, and reach out to others with His love, in service to one and all, in His name.Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we believe we can make Christ known to one and all and thus extend the faith of our church members to our community and to the world. As Christians we strive to make our church a vital, alive and growing fellowship. By His grace we are saved and by His grace we serve Him, as we learn, teach, and proclaim His Word to people of all ages. We serve Him as we respond to the spiritual and physical needs of people in our community and often to people around the world. As we become active stewards of His gifts to us, we offer our time and talents to share His love to others in word and deed.
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." Please join us as we celebrate the love of Christ. We work and learn together about Him, then when we practice our faith, we remember what has been said many times: when we serve or minister to some one in His name we, in Truth, serve Him.
We welcome you to worship Him with us. We are a church of worshipers, not just spectators. You are invited to listen to God's Word and to receive Holy Communion, to confess your faith, to praise God, to pray, to offer yourself for God's mission, and to share the peace of the Lord. Whenever we gather together to hear the Word, Jesus is there in our midst.
We have a choir that sings for special services. We invite you to join.
Our young adults are given instruction for Confirmation and in completing their course of study become confirmed on Pentecost Sunday. Adult Baptisms and confirmation classes are also offered as needed. Ask when the next class is starting. This is also a real opportunity for current members to brush up on Lutheran fundamentals. Confirmation is our affirmation of Baptism. The Sacrament of Baptism is not water only, but it is water used together with God's Word. Our Lord Jesus Christ said as recorded in Mark 16, "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved."
We strive to help our members grow in their faith and become active Christians in this church, in this community and even in the world. Our children and youth gather for fun and fellowship to participate in Christian service projects throughout the year.
Our church members aid in ministering to the members of this congregation and to any person we can reach with the Gospel of Christ. Some of the social functions that are held throughout the year include a church picnic and a congregational Christmas dinner.
A few of our community outreach projects include the food pantry, the furniture bank and lay Eucharist ministry. There are many other areas in which you can participate such as driving people to and from church, teaching Sunday School, and serving as ushers, just to name a few.
We all have some special talents. Together we praise God and become a part of the Good News as we serve Him in word and deed.
