Spring Greetings From Lutheran East Side MissionAs the school year comes to an end we would like to congratulate the Class of 2013! What an amazing accomplishment for all graduates! We pray that the children of our future remain in God’s word as they seek guidance from our Lord and Savior, growing in love and faith. As sisters and brothers in Christ we experience a common bond and all face sinful temptations daily, but we can rise above our sinful nature and work to share His Good News. We are blessed to have the gift of life, health and often overflowing joy. Our Lord and Savior provides us with endless acts of love. Through you we see His compassion, mercy and grace, which is beyond wonder. God demonstrates his love in every living thing. Take the time to pray and care for others; do not let the opportunity pass you by. “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.” JOHN 10:10 NL
By providing hands-on, your love and hard work is proof that the Lord’s plans for the Mission are long term, going on twenty-five years. Because of your prayers, and financial support, the Mission holds Sunday Worship Service at 11:30 am, our Worship Service follows the same Gospel Lessons with Holy Communion as do the Circuit Churches. We welcome visitors to join us on Sundays and have Sunday School for children ages three to thirteen. Pastor offers Sunday afternoon Adult Confirmation classes. The After School Program is Monday through Thursday, 3:00 to 5:00, and will be offering a Summer Program for children ages five to thirteen. Ladies Bible Study meets twice a month, 5:30 to 8:00, and we have a Mission pantry and clothing closet. Thank you for all you do to keep these existing opportunities available for Mission families. We are blessed for all the volunteers, your prayers and financial support, those who drive the Mission vans, and donate clothing & other household items. Your donations are passed along to provide help and hope for families in our community. Please continue to keep the Mission in your prayers. “But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus…”ACTS 20:24 NLT
Several of our Mission youth have been attending Confirmation and Kids A Blaze classes at Risen Christ. On April 7, along with Risen Christ faith families and seven other Confirmands we celebrated with Fantayshia Howard, member of East Side Mission in professing her faith during the 10:30 worship service at Risen Christ. In honor of her confirmation, dedication and hard work the Mission Board voted to fund Fantayshia’s expenses to attend the National Youth Conference in July. She will be joining fellow Confirmands from Park View Lutheran and Risen Christ for this once in a lifetime experience. Please prayerfully consider helping to support Fantayshia’s decision to live out her faith. If you would like to help with her cost to attend the National Youth Conference please designate those funds for that purpose.
The Board of Directors will meet May 2, at 7:00 pm, if you would like to request time on the agenda please call in advance. In light of Judy Greiman’s continued medical needs she has resigned from her position as volunteer Board Treasurer. Judy retired a few years ago as Parish Nurse and Director of East Side Mission but continued to volunteer at the Mission. Judy seldom missed the opportunity to volunteer and help when needed. Her efforts have been a real blessing to the families of East Side Mission. With prayers of thanksgiving along with the Mission Board, Eldon Greiman and his family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Judy’s recent recovery from liver failure. We are praising the Lord and the doctors, nurses and staff as she continues on the road to recovery. One must realize that the power of prayer is just an amazing gift we are given to communicate with our Lord and Savior. While hundreds of people prayed for Judy and her family she began to make dramatic improvements that even her doctors cannot medically explain. Judy is getting stronger through physical therapy daily. She has also been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma but is not receiving treatment for it at this time. Please continue to keep Judy, Eldon, and their children in your prayers.
We welcome visitors to the Mission and pray that you will take the time to come and visit us and see what is taking place at the Mission. You may want to share the news of what you have contributed, tell others! We want you to help celebrate what you have done in God’s name. Together we will “…become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.” 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18 NLT. May you experience the love of Christ daily…
