Supplemental funds are available
Brown County SD Chapter, through support provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, could assist you with a Hands on Service Project (between $100 - $800) or in a Fundraiser for individuals or nonprofit organizations (between $100 - $1000 for individuals and $100 - $800 for not-for-profit organizations). For the current time, unless extreme need is demonstrated, we will be providing supplemental funds up to a maximum of $500.

For 2007, we start this year with $26,890 that we can use to support events between 1/1/2007 & 12/1/2007. This year our monthly meetings were the second Monday of the month. The October meeting is usually held just before the election meeting held sometime that month. The final meetings in November & December will mainly be for Final Reporting forms to come in. If you have a planned fundraiser for 2007, it is best to request funding at least 45 days before the planned event.

Approved Activities will need to report the number of Thrivent Financial Households that are participating in the event (a minimum of six are needed in order to receive supplemental funds), the number of volunteer hours before/during/after the event, and the amount of local funds raised (we can supplement with a dollar-for-dollar match up to your maximum, but perfer to supplement with at least a 2 to 1 return).

The above funds CANNOT be used for congregations. Each congregation in Brown County that records three Thrivent Financial members or associate members to be congregational coordinators will have a total of at least $1300 to use on the support of Hands on Service Project or Fundraisers for church organizations. (Once again, at least six Thrivent Financial for Lutherans households must be involved.)

For both of the above, PRE-APPROVAL of all projects must be requested & approved.

=================================================

Elections are held every year between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30. This year's national election ballots will be mailed out to all members.

Elections for Brown County SD Chapter Leadership Board took place during the second Sunday in October. (We had RSVPs in advance from a little over 100 & there were 185 that attended.) The Election Meeting included a presentation of products available from Thrivent Financial, background music, prizes and a meal.

Brown County SD Chapter
for the following events:

2004
...all of our $29,000 budget has been spent or committed to projects. If you have a need, or know of someone with a need, that information to prepare a fundraiser can be prepared & considered after January 1, 2005.

All funds have been committed and/or spent. The Brown County SD Chapter was able to assist with others in helping to rebuild the Boy Scout Camp near Wilmot. Twenty-two churches in Brown County have another $31,000 that they can spend directly. {Currently about $22,000 has been spent/committed, $9000 remains.} We also received $1,000 to support "Join Hands Day" - $200 went out to five projects..
Meetings are normally held on the second Monday of the month, usually at Bethlehem Lutheran in Aberdeen, starting at 7 PM.

For 2005, we have $25,000. He have already committed over $20,000 to needy people & non-profit organizations like the Warner Library, Safe Harbor, Abdn School Cent$ for Kid$, Frederick Health Ctr & Prom, NSU Band, YAPA, Micky-D, Lions, Main Street Living, Yelduz, DI Dolly Parton, & several persons with medical needs. The last of our monies for this year have been committed.

The activities at the Brown County Fair were a BIG success. Winner of the Brown County Thrivent $50 prize was Merton Johnson. Winner of the Thrivent booth's digital camera was Joleen Siders. All music events were excitement filled. Hope to see you there next year!!!!!!

As a reminder, if you're planning an event for 2006, we suggest you get your request in at least 60 days in advance. The January through September meetings have approved requests and there remains less than $800 for 2006. So if you're planning a Helping Hands event -or- a Fundraising event, get that request in NOW ! ! !
Attention Election Meeting: If you wish to be put on the ballot for 2007, please contact any any officer. Our election meeting will be the second or third Sunday in October. (RSVPs will be requested - so we have an accurate count for the meal.)
