The New Haven Chapter # 31017, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, includes 29 Lutheran congregations from the New Haven and Middlesex Counties in Connecticut. The Thrivent membership in these congregations is around 3000 persons.
In 2010, the New Haven Chapter was allocated $21,395 in supplemental matching funds for programs identified as Care Abounds in Communities (CAIC). To access these funds, service teams of at least six Thrivent members may request matching funds for fund raising events benefitting individuals or community organizations outside of the congregations. The chapter leaders have the responsibility to approve and administer these matching funds. Forms may be received from the Thrivent web site or from chapter leaders.
Annually our chapter sponsors a Join Hands Day program wherein youth and adults work together on some volunteer service activity to help people or organizations in the community.
All Thrivent members are invited to attend annual events like the January Kick-off gathering as well as the mid-year chapter picnic. Your participation is encouraged as you are able and interested in the fraternal activities of this Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

| New Haven Chapter |
2010 Care Abounds in Communities
In 2010, Thrivent allocated $21,395 to the New Haven Chapter for supplemental matching funds. For fund raising activities, these funds are used to match the funds raised through various events.. For hands-on activities, these funds are used to purchase items for the work proposed by the activity. Service teams of at least 6 Thrivent families are created to plan, organize, and implement each activity. The Service Team Coordinator submits a request to the chapter leaders who have the responsibility to review, approve and administer the funds. The New Haven Chapter supported 36 activities during the year 2010.
These 36 activities are very diverse in the type of activity, the recipient of the activity, and the number of people involved in the activity. In the 36 projects supported, an average of $1.76 dollars were raised for every matching dollar from Thrivent. Just as important, over 3,500 people participated in the activities and over 8200 volunteer hours were reported. Indeed, many ministries were blessed by these inspiring events.
