Care and Share--Care Abounds in Communities
Featured are Care Abounds in Communities activities that have been completed within chapters in the Northeast Region recently. Each example is either a unique idea, an activity in which the community service team raised at least 3 times as much as was supplemented by Thrivent Financial, or an activity in which at least a half hour of service was performed for every dollar supplemented.

If your chapter sponsored unique activities and/or activities that are excellent examples of the leveraging of funds and/or time, please send an email to cindy.kincaid@thrivent.com to report the basic details. Photos are always welcome too! Just be sure that the photos are in the jpg format and that you have a copy of a release form, signed by each recognizable person in the photo, in your chapter files.
Each year many Lutheran Churches in the Central NY area participate in a volleyball marathon, which is a two day event to raise money for the Mohawk Valley Lutheran Confirmation Camp. In 2006 over 4000 hours of volunteer service were scored!! The service team also maximized their opportunities by netting $5418 with a supplement of $1600 from the Central New York Chapter's Care Abounds in Communities program. The confirmation camp offers a Christian summer camping experience for nearly 100 Lutheran Youth in Central New York. There were almost 200 youth and several adult chaperones participating in the marathon. This is a great fun way to bring in both dollars and hours of service!
