Mohamed Duale came from Ethiopia to the United States in 1990. His wife, Queen Hanshi, immigrated in 1993 from Somalia. They have five sons; Hamsa (12), Hassan (8), Hosni (6), Hudefa (3) and Abdirahim (1). Their family enjoys playing soccer, volunteering and meeting new people. After purchasing their Habitat home they want to continue helping other Habitat homebuyers, as well as focus on the education of their children.
|  | Hector and Ramona Gomez have four daughters aged 19, 17, 14, and 7. The family has lived in Monticello for over four years. Hector works for Egan Company as an electrician and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Their Habitat home will give them a chance to thrive and contribute to the community in a way that they were not able to before.

Alex and Oksana are both from Kyrgyzstan. Their three children, Karina (4), Rueben ( 2), and Tone (7 months), were all born here in Minnesota. In their free time, Alex, Oksana and their children enjoy traveling, fishing and going on picnics. The couple is excited to own their own home with a garage, a garden to plant and a yard for their children to enjoy.
|  | Khadija and her four children are from Ethiopia and speak Swahili, Oromo and Somali. The oldest child, pictured above, is Faysal Jillo (age 21). Faysal works at Riverside Home Care Providers. He has three younger siblings: Abdujabar (16) Abdifatah (14) and Deqo (11). Khadija’s sons enjoy playing soccer. After owning their own home, Faysal’s next goal is making sure all of his siblings go to college.

Abdullahi Ahmed moved to the United States from Somalia, in 1999. His wife, Ifraax Abdi, followed in 2000. The couple has a daughter, Mumtaaz, who is almost 1 year old. They know owning a new home will change their way of living forever, they look forward to taking ownership of their new Habitat home and enjoying the freedom that will follow. In their free time, they enjoy watching television and researching information and news on the computer. Both are looking forward to seeing the construction of their living room, dining area and kitchen.
|  | Hailemichael Mechesso moved from Ethiopia to the United States in 2001. He was joined by his wife, Roman Dinka, in 2007. The couple has two boys - Samuel (age 12) and Bereket (age 9). In their free time, they enjoy watching TV, listening to music and reading books. Hailemichael and Roman are looking forward to the sense of ownership they will feel when they purchase their Habitat home. They know being homeowners will bring security and stability to their lives.

Fardowsa Omer moved from Ethiopia to the USA with her brother Maruf in 2000. Her husband, Boru Bosat, followed in 2001. The couple has two daughters, Leyman (3) and Tasnim (8 months). They will be sharing their home with Maruf and their niece Urji (14). Fardowsa is a nursing assistant at Abbot Northwestern Hospital and Boru is a nursing student at U of M. After purchasing their home Boru hopes to graduate from the U of M.
|  | Zabida Omar is from Ethiopia and is fluent in Oromo, Amharic and English. Zabida has three children, Zubeir (6), Oanani (4) and Maymuna (7 months). Zabida knows that owning her own home will change her life and she looks forward to having a good school for her children.
