| | | Care in Congregations |
Care in Congregations™ is the program through which members receive financial support for hands-on service activities and fund-raising activities to help their Lutheran congregations or associated Lutheran entities (e.g., preschool, elementary school, high school, child care center, etc.).Each congregation is required to have three congregational coordinators in place to receive their funds available for the Care in Congregations™ program. The congregational coordinators provide leadership to volunteer efforts in the congregation, initiate the request for funds, report activity information, assure that funding is used as intended at the congregation and engage other Thrivent Financial for Lutheran members.

| | Program Highlights |
• Hands-on service and fund-raising activities (includes appeals/collections) qualify for funding. • All activity requests must be submitted by Dec. 22(preferably earlier), 2004 and MUST occur within the calendar year that they are approved. • Final reporting should be completed by Dec. 31 (preferably earlier). • To receive funding from an activity(ies) there must be an individual from at least six different Thrivent Financial member households involved in planning, organizing and conducting the activity benefiting the recipient. These can be financial or associate members. • Funding dollars are requested prior to beginning the activity and subject to funds available. • Funds are disbursed once all reporting is complete. |  |
| | Funding Highlights |
• Multiple activity requests can be made per year as long as the allocation amount is not exceeded. • There is a $1,600 maximum funding limit for hands-on service activity(ies). • No maximum for fund-raising activities up to the allocation amount. • The minimum request is $100 for an activity to be eligible for funding. • The congregational service team MUST submit all receipts to the chapter leadership board along with a sample of the publicity which was used.

| | Congregational Coordinator Highlights |
• These positions are approved, not elected, by the chapter leadership board. • Individuals can serve as a congregational coordinator in one congregation at a time. • An individual can serve until they leave by choice or through a chapter leadership board decision. • Each of the three congregational coordinators must be from different households. • They cannot hold a chapter leadership position and serve as a congregational coordinator at the same time.
