The process is very similar to how chapter projects are currently handled; for example,
• there must be 6 Thrivent households involved,
• the projects must be either fund-raisers, service projects or appeals/collections,
• the service teams must track their volunteer hours, money raised and expenses and turn in any receipts for any materials used for the hands-on service projects.
All projects requesting funding from the Disaster Response Program must be in response to the recent tornados and floods.
• Fund-raisers will be supplemented on a $1 to $3 ratio - $1 dollar supplemented for every $3 raised up to the approved limit. The recipient must be an individual, family or non-profit organization that has been impacted by the flood.
• Service projects are eligible if conducted by volunteers who are contributing their time to clean, rebuild, improve and/or renovate the homes of individuals/families. Assisting farmers in clearing their fields of storm debris is another example of an acceptable service project.
• Until October 1, 2008 priority for funding will be given to emergency disaster needs such as food, shelter, medical needs, and basic child/adult welfare. After October 1, if funds remain, other disaster related requests will be considered.

Download The Greater Iowa Disaster Response Program Guidelines and an Iowa Disaster Response Funding Request Form The program guidelines outline the purpose of the program - who is eligible, the program details, what activities are eligible for funding, project requesting and reporting timeframes and who to send your requests and follow-up reports to.
• Please share these forms with anyone who is requesting disaster relief funding from your chapter. You may send them to your chapter's congregation coordinators and share them with local pastor's.
• Have the completed forms sent directly (by email if possible) to either Bruce Maurer or Phyllis Coburn. Their email addresses and other contact information are on both the funding request form and guideline document.
• Please remember, if you have adequate funds left in your Care Abounds in Communities account we encourage you to use this money for disaster relief as well.
