Volunteer Workout Check helps Messiah Lutheran Church Expand


An opportunity for a Financial Associate of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to show their commitment to congregation and community through volunteer service. The Financial Associate and a group of recruited volunteers, decide on hands on service project and "Work Out" a minimum total of 210 volunteer hours to earn $1000 for the congregation.

On a recent Saturday, Financial Associate Justin Carlson presented a check to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in recognition of their participation in the Thrivent Volunteer Work Out Event. There was a party held at Mike and Diane Harmon's home celebrating the success of the project, which was a church clean-up and beautification effort in preparation for their 100th anniversary in February 2009. Pictured are Financial Associate Justin Carlson, Pastor Dave Fulton and Church Council President Dan Kallman. They credit this program with the overwhelming success and participation of their congregation that has actually logged over 500 hours and still counting.
