Thrivent Builds Worldwide Trip to Biloxi, MS
August 17th to 22nd

Thank you for your interest in the Thrivent Builds Worldwide Gulf Coast Community. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has committed to build up to 28 new homes, a park and a pavilion in two cul-de-sacs which will also help increase capacity to build even more homes in the future. There are 51 build teams helping to build communities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This is your chance to be part of an experience that will help change families’ lives and rebuild an entire community!

Trip information

Upon arrival in Biloxi, volunteers will be taken care of!
Volunteers flying in to Biloxi, MS airport, pickup and drop off are available for you.
Vans are provided to and from job site.
Three meals a day will be provided.
Tour of the region and a taste of the town dinner.
Build site is well organized and supervised.
All tools and building materials provided at build site.
Trip length: One-week, volunteers work from August 17th -22nd.

Trip Cost:

Thrivent Financial Members: as a benefit of membership, Thrivent Financial for Lutheran members the trip cost is $185 plus travel expenses. For nonmembers the cost is $370 plus travel expenses.

Accommodations: You’ll have safe, secure and clean accommodations at Camp Victor, which was previously an old Swingster sewing factory that was converted into a disaster relief camp and now known as Camp Victor. Camp Victor is nestled in downtown Ocean Springs near many restaurants and boutiques. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. There is 24 hour security at Camp Victor.

Trip week at a glance

Monday: You’re greeted at Camp Victor for an orientation session.
Tuesday through Friday: You’ll have four full days to work on construction of a home.
You will also:
Tour the area to see first hand the devastation caused by the hurricanes….still apparent after almost four years.
Have an opportunity to take an optional walking tour or visit the Katrina Memorial.
Enjoy southern cooking at a local restaurant.
Saturday: Departure.
